• Der römische Feldherr Timesitheus, Schwiegervater von Kaiser Gordian III., besiegt das Sassanidenreich unter Schapur I. im Römisch-Persischen Krieg, stirbt jedoch bald darauf. Sein Nachfolger als Prätorianerpräfekt wird der aus Arabien stammende Julius Philippus.
